FOP Membership Information

Membership Requirements

The Post Falls Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police is open to sworn law enforcement and retired sworn law enforcement in the Inland Northwest.  We are the primary lodge serving police officers & deputies with the Post Falls Police Department, the Rathdrum Police Department, the Benewah County Sheriff's Office, the Coeur d' Alene Tribal Police, and the Spirit Lake Police Department.  At the present time, our lodge does not have an FOP Associates lodge for non-sworn staff, but it is our hope to add that membership class in the future.

Benefits of Membership

The primary purpose of our FOP lodge is to provide a legal defense plan benefit to our members.  Our lodge has selected PORAC to service our plan needs.  Members also receive accident and death coverage as part of the membership dues.  We engage with state and local leaders about issues that are important to our members.  The Post Falls Lodge is not a union and does not have collective bargaining rights with any agency.  Members are entitled to certain benefits through the National FOP, which can be found at www.fop.net.  We provide charitable support to our community through the Post Falls FOP Foundation, our 501(c)3 charity.

Costs

Dues are presently $350.00 a year for active sworn personnel and are payable quarterly in the amount of $87.50.  Enrollment in the legal defense plan is included in your dues.  Dues for retirees is set at $60.00 a year.

If you are ready to join, fill out our membership application and then visit our dues page to make payment.

PORAC Legal Plan Coverage Document

We use PORAC for our legal coverage and benefits are listed in the official 39-page plan document listed below.  We are a "plan 1" organization, meaning we purchase coverage for criminal, civil, and administrative legal assistance.  Please note that much like car insurance, you must be enrolled in the plan at the time of an incident to receive plan benefits...it is not retroactive.  Please review this plan carefully so you understand your benefits.
